How old do I have to be to participate?
The minimum age is 6 years. For the ropes course, the minimum height is 4 feet tall. We recommend having children ages 6-8 accompanied by an adult. All participants must be proficient swimmers.
What if I cannot swim?
Unfortunately, non-swimmers cannot participate in any water activities. You may fall into the water from the obstacles at any time, so proficient swimming ability is required.
Do I need to book in advance?
We highly recommend booking online in advance, especially for weekends and holidays. Walk-ins are accepted based on availability. Book at least one week ahead for the best rates!
How long are the sessions?
Sessions are 45 minutes long, including a brief safety briefing. Add a back-to-back session for just $9.99 (Mon–Thu) or $11.99 (Fri–Sun)!
When should I arrive?
If you've already signed your waiver and booked online, arrive 15 minutes before your session. If you still need to sign up, arrive 30 minutes early, especially for groups.
What should I bring?
Bring swimsuit, towel, and waterproof sunscreen. For the ropes course, you need closed-toe shoes (Crocs work great!). We provide life jackets. We have a safe deposit for your keys.
What happens in bad weather?
We're an outdoor facility. If lightning occurs, we close the park and will credit your prepaid account or add extra time once weather clears. No credit card refunds are offered for weather. Check our Facebook for updates!
Are there alligators in the lake?
No! Our freshwater lakes have no open water access and extensive daily activity that keeps wildlife away. You're completely safe!
How do I book a session?
Click BOOK NOW on our website. You can book as a guest to check availability, or click SIGN UP first to create an account. From your account, you can book for yourself or a group and easily invite guests via email. For the best rates, book at least one week in advance!
How do I book for a group?
One person can book for the entire group! Just select the number of participants when booking online. Make sure all group members sign up and complete their waivers before arrival. For groups of 30+, please contact our events team at events@charlestonaquapark.com for special arrangements.
What is the cancellation policy?
Sessions can be refunded with a 25% cancellation fee up to 24 hours before. Example: For a 2:00pm session on August 2nd, you can cancel until 1:59pm on August 1st. Cancellations within 24 hours and no-shows are NOT refunded—this includes partial no-shows for birthday parties. All refunds go to your prepaid account (no credit card refunds). Weather-impacted sessions are also credited to your prepaid account. Credits stay valid indefinitely.
Do I need to bring ID?
We recommend having some form of personal ID with you. We may ask for identification if we're unsure about your age, since only participants 18 or older can sign the waiver in their own name.
What is a 'Fast Pass'?
You don't need to worry about getting a Fast Pass! It's automatically generated by our booking system once all participants in your group have signed up and agreed to the Terms & Conditions, Privacy Policy, and Release of Liability. Just give us your name or booking code at check-in.
It won't let me sign my child up with their date of birth?
Due to legal and insurance reasons, children cannot be signed up independently—they must be attached to an adult's account. Please sign up with your own details first as the parent/guardian, then add your children as family members. For kids, you'll only need to enter their name, gender, and birth date.
Are there changing rooms and bathrooms?
Yes! We have clean restrooms and basic changing areas available. We recommend coming dressed and ready to swim. There are no lockers, but we have a secure key deposit for car keys.
Do you have showers?
No, we do not have showers. We recommend bringing a towel to dry off and changing at home.
Is there somewhere for spectators to watch?
Yes! We have picnic benches, beach chairs, and space for blankets along the lakeside where spectators can watch family and friends. Non-participants can watch for free but cannot access the docks or obstacle course areas. Note: Anyone entering the water—even from the beach—must wear a life jacket.
Can I bring my own food and drinks?
Absolutely! Feel free to bring a cooler with food, snacks, and non-alcoholic drinks. Glass containers are not permitted. We don't sell food on-site, so come prepared!
Is alcohol allowed?
For insurance reasons, outside alcohol is not permitted. We sell a small selection of beers, wines, and non-alcoholic beverages on-site. Please note: we limit alcoholic drinks to 2 per person, and once you've consumed any alcohol, you cannot participate in any activities.
Is the aqua park safe?
Absolutely! Safety is our top priority. All participants receive a safety briefing and must wear Coast Guard-approved life jackets. Our trained lifeguards monitor the park at all times. The lake is freshwater with no dangerous wildlife.
Can I participate while pregnant or with a medical condition?
No, participants must not be pregnant, injured, or have any pre-existing medical conditions that could be aggravated by physical activity or water immersion. Please review our full waiver for details.
What about brain-eating amoeba?
The so-called brain-eating amoeba (Naegleria fowleri) can potentially be found in warm freshwater environments worldwide. We check our water regularly for e.coli and maintain excellent water quality even during summer months. However, there is no routine rapid test for Naegleria fowleri. The nose is the primary pathway for infection, so avoid forcefully submerging your head or diving. For more information, visit the CDC website at cdc.gov/parasites/naegleria.
Do you offer lessons?
We don't offer lessons for the aqua park or ropes course—you'll learn as you play! We do offer wakeboard lessons on demand. Our summer camps also include professional wakeboard instruction.
